tonight i discovered that knitting lace around other people is a really bad idea. frogged it twice: once i actually made a mistake, and once i only thought i did. still, i got a lot accomplished. this is my fourth or fifth time knitting on this stupid project, not counting all the times i’ve frogged [...]

i must have looked like srz bznz when i walked into taste of india today, b/c unlike every other time i’ve been there (and said, “please make it very hot”), my curry is actually super spicy this time. not just with heat, but with actual spices. this is not the usual bland midwestern curry that [...]

i’ve been working my way through la femme nikita. i’m more than halfway through season one. i paused to watch new doctor who, battlestar galactica, the sarah jane adventures, and a bunch of iron chef; now i am back to nikita and her misadventures. even though i watched the whole series when it was on [...]

theodore’s favorite thing to do is be annoying. he’s lucky he’s so cute, otherwise i am pretty sure that shiksa and vincent would totally kill him.

tonight annie and i went to see van halen at some big arena. we were in row F — which, contrary to what it looks like in this crappy camera phone picture, was pretty fucking close to the stage. especially for an arena show. my suggestion to the world: always get press tickets. wow. david [...]

i made sicilian tomato and bread soup, which was kind of disappointing — because, i guess, i was expecting panzanella, and got soup instead. however, i also have the ingredients (seen here) for garlic-potato soup, and i figure that as long as i put a lot of garlic in, i can’t really go wrong.

still knitting on this shawl. there’s this thing called a lifeline. you thread a piece of yarn through any given row, and that way, when you fuck up the lace later on, you can rip out the stitches back to the lifeline, pick up the stitches from where you know you hadn’t screwed up, and [...]

noro kureyon sock yarn, 3.25mm needles, & fiber trends leaf lace shawl pattern. i’m on row 24, for the second time tonight — the first time sitting in ihop with a bunch of other knitters, talking about piercings and boobs, i was using 4mm needles. too big, giant clumsy awful holes. i think these might [...]

so i baked some bread. the crust is too crusty, and the inside is soft and bland. so it is, basically, white bread. 1-1/4 C warm water 1-1/4 tsp salt 1 T sugar 3-2/3 C white bread flour 1-1/2 tsp yeast bake at 400 for 30 minutes.

for hours and hours i’ve just sat on the couch watching la femme nikita and crocheting, dropping things on the floor as i finish with them.
