i am terrible at knitting lace. it only looks good if you squint and it gets kind of blurry.
i am knitting this art nouveau stole because jozelle wanted to see what it looks like when you slip a stitch, knit the next one, and pass the slipped stitch over the knit one. i guess i didn’t have to cast on 145 stitches and pick a really difficult pattern, but it’s the one we were looking at — i was saying, if i could knit lace, i’d want to knit this pattern.
i’m through sixteen rows after a couple of hours. it doesn’t sound like a lot to me at all, but i console myself by reminding myself that it’s actually quite a lot since each row is 145 stitches. that’s 1160 purl stitches and 1160 pattern stitches. that’s a lot of stitches, even though it doesn’t look like much.
i screwed it up a bunch of times so far, but instead of ripping back, i just kept going. now it’s about matched up with the pattern on the paper. if i can get another sixteen rows done at some point, it might even actually start to look like something.
i slept all morning, ate a waffle, went to target — so much money for cat litter, but it’s cheaper than anywhere else. i also bought cat food, and a bunch of smelly things for the bathroom in fall scents, two trashy harlequin novels, and a new dress. i also bought a little thing for the cats to scratch on. i used to have one, a few months ago, and they loved it. this new thing is no different.
