2012-04-15 – BABY

2012-04-15 – BABY, originally uploaded by octette_stars.

Tonight I went to Kat and Jamie’s. There was a lot of book-reading with Claire, and baby-snuggling with Julia. (Look! They use the blanket I made!)

I am astonished every time I am allowed to hold the baby. I am pretty sure that if I had one of these things, I would never let anyone else touch it.

Around 8 pm, my throat started to hurt and my eyes started to burn, and by the time I got home around 11, my voice was gone and my eyes were tearing. The pollen count is out of control, and even though I’ve never been allergic to anything before, I remember this time last year when I moved here, I had terrible allergies, too; tomorrow I think I’m going to hit up the walmart for some Allegra, because Claritin is useless.

Also, I remembered to mail my taxes. Oh, yeah, I did them back in February, but the NY state paperwork couldn’t be e-filed, so I’ve literally been carrying the envelope around with me since, I don’t even know, the middle of Feb? I found two stamps in my car — so old they were the kind that had to be LICKED — and mailed the check this morning. So awful.

2012-04-13 – I will guide you in the night

After the show at Maxwell’s on the 12th, Sarah and I crashed with our friend Lina, slept until noonish, and then drove up to Albany. We arrived, cruised past the venue, then went for burritos. While waiting for burritos, Empires started Tweeting about the venue being on fire (!!) and how the show might be canceled. There was much gnashing of teeth. However, the venue ended up being fine, the show wasn’t canceled, and even though it wasn’t on the set list for that night, the band played the song Sarah and I had requested (uh, via Twitter, while on the highway), which was awesome.

This is a picture of them playing “Spit the Dark.”

After the show, I bought an Empires t-shirt, and got two hugs; instead of lingering, we just got in the car and drove back to CT to crash at Sarah’s apartment.

That was my third Empires show and it was amazing. Their music is awesome. I cannot wait for the new album in June, not just because it’s new music but also because Sarah and I have made a pact to just get in my car and drive to every single show on the east coast. Possibly we’ll also follow them out to Chicago, but definitely not past there. I’m not driving to Nebraska or whatever. I have limits. (LOL.)

Diet Coke!

(Tonight, several friends and I went to see Empires. I saw them last week, too, and it was so fucking amazing. Tonight was also amazing.

Friends drank, but I was happy to be the DD, especially because I was foolish and awkward enough when I was trying to talk to the band, omg, no need to add alcohol into the mix.)

2012-04-11 – girasole, the beginning of chart D

I actually am not loving this pattern as much as I thought I would, and it’s really difficult to knit (although, frankly, it’s pretty clear I am knitting on needles that are too small for the yarn and the pattern). However, when it’s done, it will be pretty.

One more session to do the teeth and mouths, and then I’m done until it heals and can be touched up.

2012-04-06 – raspberry colored eyeshadow

I never would have ordered raspberry colored eyeshadow – my favorite Etsy shop sent me a sample, though, and I love it.
